Description
Karl von Clausewitz was a Prussian general and military strategist considered one of the most influential theorists of his age. His ideas revolutionized modern warfare and continue to be a mainstay in military institutions all over the world. Von Klausewitz believed in the strength of a flexible defensive doctrine, which he saw as much more advantageous than a rigid all-out offensive strategy. He maintained that flexibility throughout the command structure was of the utmost importance, and that battles are lost when the initiative stems entirely from the top, as commanders are often ignorant of the changing situation on the ground and incapable of exploiting local breakthroughs. His seminal work 'Vom Kriege' ('On War') was von Clausewitz's sole published work prior to his death from cholera in 1831.Actions

Description
David Friedrich Strauss was a radical theologian who refuted commonly-held views of the Bible and God. He focused mainly on the gospels, rebuking the arguments of both Supernaturalists, who took the text of the gospels at face value, as well as Rationalists, who thought them to be exaggerations of otherwise real events. Strauss put forward the relatively radical idea that the gospels were a collection of first-century Jewish myths and that Jesus was likely an historical person rather than a devine being. One of his most famous works is 'Das Leben Jesu kritisch bearbeitet' ('Life of Jesus Critically Examined'), essentially a fact-based examination of Jesus and an investigation into his life and origins.Actions
