Description

Like many European settlements, Transylvania began life as a Roman fort, but the true history of the region began with its settlement by Saxon colonists during the 12th century. Its capital was the prosperous market town of Hermannstadt, which the ruling Magyar elite called Nagyszeben. For much of its history, Transylvania was dominated by German and Hungarian interests and existed as a vassal state of either Hungary or the Ottoman Empire. Jedisan was originally a Roman colony, and in turn became a Vlach settlement based around the town of Vozia.
