1576: Tycho Brahe for Denmark

Denmark — Not random

Will happen on January 2, 1576

Tycho Brahe was an influential sixteenth century Danish astronomer whose work introduced empirical observation to the study of the heavens. Brahe's work included a detailed description of the movements of the planet Mars and an overwhelmingly accurate map of the positions of well over seven hundred fixed stars. Despite adhering to a traditional geocentric model of the universe, Brahe's discoveries provided a foundation for the work of many future astonomers, including Kepler and Galileo.
