Description

The purpose of founding the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC), the Dutch East India Company, was to gather funds for the exploration of the East Indies and the establishment of colonies and trade routes for spice and other highly valuable commodities. In this purpose, the company was quite successful.
