Description
In 1508, Pope Julius II set-up a league against the Republic of Venice which he disliked and found too powerful in Italy. He enlisted support of Florence, France and even of Emperor Maximilian. French troops decimated the Venetian army at the battle of Agnadel in 1509, but the Republic managed to break the league by concluding separate peace with her opponents.Actions

Description
The Grand Duchy of Tuscany was founded on August 27, 1569 when Pope Pius V issued a bull declaring his long-term supporter Cosimo de Medici to be the first Grand Duke of Tuscany, a title unprecedented in Italy. Thus, the House of Medici had been raised to the rank of sovereigns, and Cosimo and his successors were to be addressed as Serene Highness. The Grand Duchy succeeded the Florentine Republic, which had been established in the early 12th century as a respectable maritime power alongside the likes of Venice and Genoa. Of course, things need not have turned out that way...Actions
